Brief (Rob's preferred introduction)
Rob has over 30 years’ experience in planning and development as: • a developer;• a developer’s representative;• consultant to cities on development and planning policy; and• a staff member responsible for the development process.
In 2022, Rob formed Richardson Brothers Development LLC with its first client being the Lawrence and Douglas County Economic Development Corporation. Rob is the Director of Growth, Development, and Panasonic Strategies for the EDC. Rob is also proud to represent such outstanding companies as Orange EV, Luke Draily Construction, KC Strings, and Lonetree USA.
Rob is an active scouter and enjoys spending time with his wife and family (even though the kids are grown now and off the payroll). Some favorite activities include exploring national parks, wilderness backpacking, cool food, travel, and live theater.
Expanded Rob has over 30 years’ experience in planning and development as: • a developer;• a developer’s representative;• consultant to cities on development and planning policy; and• a staff member responsible for the development process. His undergraduate degree is from William Jewell College. Rob earned a triple major in history, political science and philosophy. He also earned a master’s degree from the University of Kansas in urban and regional planning. Rob spent almost 20 years as a planning director and has led many major planning efforts from master plans to zoning code updates. He spent the last portion of his public career as the "fixer" for the Kansas City, Kansas development process. Rob is adept at solving development issues from preapplication to final Certificate of Occupancy. One of his most significant achievements is leading the development process which allowed Sporting KC to build and open a new stadium in Kansas City, Kansas in 18 months from when the team walked in the door to propose the project.
